Istanbul City Theaters Hosts Sai Group from Japan for its 110th Anniversary

As part of the 110th year activities, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality City Theaters is bringing together Sai Group, representatives of Japan’s traditional drum Wadaiko, with its audience.

For the first time in Istanbul, the show of Japan’s traditional drum group “Sai” will be presented to enthusiasts of traditional Japanese culture at Harbiye Muhsin Ertugrul Stage on Monday, December 9, 2024, at 15.30 and 19.30.

As the closing event for the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Turkey, free tickets for this show can be obtained via the Istanbul Senin application starting from December 3, 2024.

About Japanese Drum Wadaiko Group “Sai”

Founded at Tokyo University and operating under the slogan “Echoes of Entertainment,” Sai is a professional Wadaiko group consisting solely of men.

They have performed at numerous cultural events organized by the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, hosting a total of 2000 shows in 35 different countries to date.

In 2022, they were featured in the music recordings of NHK’s national channel in Japan for the historical series “13 Kamakura Lords,” and represented Japan at the closing event of the Dubai International Expo Fair with a stage performance.
